Food Review: Kebab (Turkish)

If you notice, many of the world’s best recipes are made good either because of marination or their sauces; and the world’s 16th most delicious food is no different..

And the Kebab of Turkey actually even comes in many varieties. The shish kebab. The chop shish kebab. The doner. The iskender kebab. And many more.

Yet what are its ingredients? For the marination: 2 cloves garlic, 2 large onions, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp ground turmeric, 1 pinch curry powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 cup olive oil, 2 tbsp lemon juice, and 1 pound thinly sliced beef flank steak..

..and don’t forget the Tzatziki sauce.

Some of the Ingredients...

In a large bowl, crush the onions until much of the juice comes out. Then add the crushed garlic, oregano, black pepper, turmeric, curry powder, lemon juice, olive oil, and salt. Mix well.

Add and coat the sliced beef before covering. Then marinate overnight in the fridge.

Now mix another 2 tbsp of olive oil, 1 tbsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp of black pepper and salt, 1 clove of crushed garlic, and dill in another bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Afterwards, set the oven rack about 6 inches from the heat source as you preheat the oven’s broiler. Then remove the meat from marination and salt to taste after spreading the slices on a baking sheet.

Broil until brown and crispy on both sides. After cooking, you could opt to put tzatziki sauce on the meat and divide it with pita bread before serving.

Enjoy!
