Food & How To: Buttered Toast with Marmite (British)

When it comes to making sandwiches and alike, a “how to” is almost elementary. I mean, too simple. You just get pieces of bread and put your desired spread in it, and.. that’s about it.

Still, let’s look at the video and see what else is there..

As expected, since we are talking about buttered toast with marmite, the regular process is to put those slices of bread in a toaster then put some butter before adding some marmite..

And if ever there’s something to be “learned” here, then it must be the marmite; after all, not everyone are really familiar even with its term especially in this part of the world.

Now, what’s a “marmite” again? It’s a spread made from yeast extract. And as Wiki has it, the British version of the product is a sticky, dark brown food paste with a distinctive, powerful flavor, which is extremely salty. And this distinctive taste is reflected in the British company’s marketing slogan: “Love it or hate it.”

  1. I know the butter before vegemite thing also makes it smooth. But I just have to use the back of a spoon. I can never use a butter knife properly without tearing my bread into smitherins.
