Dumaguete City is the capital of Negros Oriental, the Philippines’ 3rd largest island (along with Negros Occidental) located in Central Visayas — and a home to anyone who wishes to get that PADI certification as a world-recognized, licensed diver. Wow! Well, it’s one reason why Dumaguete is flocked by tourists!
To get to Dumaguete City by Bus: From Cebu City, go to the South Bus Terminal. Get to door 6 and ride Ceres bus with a Dumaguete signboard. The fare is currently pegged at P205 and would take around 4.5 hours to complete — but not before riding a barge with your bus in the port of Bato, Santander, the southernmost tip of Cebu province. Oh, you’ll have to pay an additional P70 here.
Once you get to the other side, the port of Tampi, Amlan, Negros Oriental that is — your bus would be off and running for another 35 minutes before reaching Dumaguete City.
While most of the tourist attractions in Negros Oriental are outside Dumaguete City, there are at least 3 notable ones within the area that you could check out on your visit..
The famous Dumaguete Boulevard, found along the coastline of the city — it’s in fact our featured photo! Silliman University, one of the premier schools in the country that’s also known for its big, beautiful campus. And the Dumaguete Belfry Tower, located at the heart of the city in Perdices Street and just across Quezon park.
