2016 NBA PlayOffs: Day 9, April 24

Day 9 of the PlayOffs passed by with a mix of drama and a broom..

As expected, powerhouse San Antonio Spurs just swept the injury-riddled Memphis Grizzlies. The positive note here for the Grizz though is the revitalized play of Lance Stephenson, this is something they could build on come next season with the return of Marc Gasol, Brandan Wright and hopefully, Mike Conley.

WARRIORS 121, ROCKETS 94 GSW Leads 3-1

Yes, the Warriors won Game 4 but at the expense of losing Steph Curry just before the end of the first half. Curry sprained his right knee and is due for an MRI. This could be the ‘longest’ wait for the Warriors considering their PlayOff hopes would be in the balance.

Okay, they may cruise by the Rockets what with a 3-1 lead in their series, but what about the second round? The Clippers?!?

While they may be a ‘team’, we suspect if they could really go all the way without Curry. Don’t think so. Could this then be the ‘start of the end’ for the Warriors? Let’s wait for the MRI.

HAWKS 95, CELTICS 104 Series tied 2-2

This is probably the most exciting series other than the Raptors-Pacers duel who are also tied at 2 games apiece.. And both series are in the East! Wow! Still shows their lacking in reliables with the East’s close records, from the regular season to the PlayOffs.

Anyway, while Thomas has been doing what’s expected of him as the Celtics’ go-to-guy, the insertion of Turner and especially Jerebko in the ‘first five’ has really been the key to their resurgence. It made their offense ‘faster’ and get better chances not just looks from 3s.

This is gonna be a tight series — and the outcome would depend on who’d be the last man standing, Schroder or Jerebko. Seriously.

CAVS 100, PISTONS 98 CLE wins 4-0

It’s been an Uncle Drew series as Cleveland swept Detroit. Just wondering what could have been if Drummond converted a little more of his free throws? Say 3? Hah! They could have won, t’was just a 2 point ball game after all. Well, this should be the focus of the Pistons if they want to go deep into the PlayOffs in their next appearance. And a speedier Drummond.

Also, why didn’t Van Gundy use Meeks or Tolliver more? They are good 3-point shooters who could have changed the complexion of the series if only they were given the opportunity.

As for the Cavs, their second round should also be a breeze what with a weary Atlanta or Boston team whose series is still up in the air. Time for the ‘chalk toss’!
