Cocktail: How to Make a Piña Colada

Another weekend, another night at the bar. Some cocktail drinks, some fun. Well, you don’t always have to go to the bar just to enjoy your favorite cocktail drinks — like, you could make yours at home, too.

Remember?

Now, for this weekend, we’ll be featuring another of those popular bar drinks — the Piña Colada! And this is the basics..

The Ingredients

Hmm… Although the Piña Colada is basically made of 3 ingredients in coconut cream, pineapple juice, and white rum plus ice; the third one is in fact flexible. If you don’t have or like rum, you could use Vodka (though others would now call it a ‘Chi Chi’) or whatever alcohol you wish — what matters is making sure you got the two other ingredients right.

Oh, do not use light coconut milk though but the real coco cream, otherwise, it would be watery. Not good. As for the pineapple, make sure they’re natural. And all these ingredients should come in a somewhat precise measurement mixed in a blender to have that real, sweet coco-pineapple taste.

In the end, if you don’t want it so creamy then just add water.

OTHER CONCERNS. Could we do away with the blender? Then guess that could affect the consistency. Could we remove the alcohol since the first two ingredients is what really counts? Excluding the alcohol would make your drink a Virgin Piña Colada then.

Anyway, Piña Colada is kinda sweet (‘soury’ pineapple blended well with creamy coconut) so don’t forget your cherry for ‘tanginess’.

Enjoy!
