If you live in Cebu City and you have not been to SM Seaside’s Sky Park in SRP then you must have missed out on a nice place that’s just at the tip of your nose. Simple as it may sound since it’s “just SM” as many would say — yet, how many ‘sky parks’ are there?
Yeah, ‘sky pools’ are growing in number but not ‘sky parks’. Yes, parks (of course, ground parks that is) with ’em swings, slides and refreshment kiosks may be too simple and common but not ‘sky parks’ with even some sprinkler area to ‘play with water’ and bathe.
Must be challenging for Kenneth Cobonpue to design a place where you’ll mix concrete for modernity and some ‘soil’ and flora for natural beauty. Still, while SM did well, there’s always room for improvement. Like, how about adding a couple of statues? Inca type? Position ’em in strategic spots. Then put a big telescope for a nice seaside city view?
Also, there are still many vacant ‘resto’ spaces in these glass cubes — why not put an online gaming area in one of ’em instead? And a museum or boutique in another?
Incidentally, the Philippines’ fourth largest mall is actually celebrating its first year today, November 27 — so, there must be something in store for you this day. Hey, that’s wonderful — 2 birds in 1 stone!
