Movie Review: Before I Fall (2017)

We got another low budget film here in Before I Fall but this one did well though not as prominently as known Hollywood blockbusters. Anyhow, the film stars Zoey Deutch with a good story line to boot.

The Synopsis. Samantha Kingston (Zoey Deutch) seems to have it all: popularity, a loving boyfriend (Kian Lawley) and a seemingly perfect future. Everything changes in the blink of an eye when she dies in a car crash but then magically wakes up to find herself reliving the same day over and over again. As Samantha tries to untangle the mystery of a life derailed, she must also unravel the secrets of the people closest to her and discover how the power of a single day can make a difference.

Understandably so, many of those who have seen the movie didn’t really like the ending. Sam died. Yes, after a day in her life that she had to relive over and over again, in the end, it was only her death that was needed to end the loop. Then again, it’s still one movie that’s worth watching.

A lot of lessons.

One. While youth is many times about adventure and fun, hey, you do not just bully someone just because you find ‘em different from you, or just for the fun of it. You want power? Bullying is not it but simply a sign of insecurity. Think about it.

Two. Life is temporary. This immortal truth has always stared us in the face time and again but still, most of us lives life as if we own our time. As if we own the world. Could it be what we call ‘youthful innocence’? Remember, not everything fun is good. Life has its consequences — and it doesn’t matter if you’re young and healthy, or rich and famous — life is still temporary.

Three. Mistakes can be made up for — but fate can not. If it’s your time, it’s your time. Regardless. Thus, it would be best for our souls to sincerely be good. Always. And this is not just about not harming others — but about helping whenever possible. Not just about ‘living life to the fullest’ but about living in accordance with God’s words.

If we do these then there would be nothing to regret about.

Zoey Deutch a.k.a. Sam

Four. Emotional support is actually what keeps us going — whether coming from family, friends or a partner — depending on whom you value. Since life is temporary, happiness and success is therefore about finding that inspiration. Have you ever thought that life could have been different if you have not met that one person?

In the end, we live for a purpose.

Movie Review: A Dog’s Purpose (2017)

Today’s movie feature got an interesting plot about a dog who kept reincarnating till he found his way back to his beloved owner. The title? A Dog’s Purpose.

Yep, it’s been recently shown in theatres, so surely ‘em dog lovers out there or even just those seeking for some light-hearted movie might have already seen this film. Then again, have you ever thought why this Dennis Quaid-starrer was entitled such?

After all, aren’t there only two purposes of a dog? To comfort his master, and to guard or look after him and his properties? A police dog, well, somehow it also falls under the second purpose.

If you haven’t heard of it yet, this film actually caused controversy when one of the dogs used — the German shepherd for that matter — was said to have been forced into running water that eventually required human rescue. Hmm.. Don’t you think t’was just some promotional stunt?

The controversial dog

Anyway, the dogs used were real lovely and they must have gotten sick and tired doing the film, huh? Especially if it took several takes to complete a scene. But the Golden Retriever, or Bailey surely fit the bill as “man’s best friend.” Yup, his features and all.

However, while we could accept human reincarnation, dogs making their rounds on earth as well doesn’t make sense. You know, how could you prove it? That the dog you have now is the one you had 20, 30 years ago!? Catching their tails or doing some dog tricks ain’t enough, hey, we don’t speak dog! So, how would you know that it’s really your dog of old??

How would you know it’s really Bailey?

The nice thing about this film though are the life lessons. And those are something we should really take to heart. The meaning of life. The reason for one’s being. That life is not simply a bed of roses. Wow, do we really need a dog just to remind us?? Bailey just did. See, many are simply lost under the sun.

And perhaps only in realizing how short life is could be the only way to make us understand all these. Yeah, can’t just boast of having a personal relationship with God — ‘cause if you do not really follow all His teachings — then that personal relationship does not exist. Common sense.

Don’t waste life but treasure ’em what really matters

In the end, just live. Respect and be responsible. Help when you can. Value what really matters. Oh yes, having a dog could teach you these things. So, have fun. But remember, not everything fun is good.

Travel Time: Life in Tonga

Time to go to the South Pacific ocean anew as we travel this time to Tonga – that’s 5 weeks with Michael Young – in a wonderfully created video of pictures about Life in Tonga..

Oh, their roasting of pigs and eating in banana leaves are quite similar to the Philippines – that’s cute..

Yet, being another of those amazing South Pacific island countries, it’s understandably not as developed as some of the nations you might have visited. But then again, if you want natural beauty, if you like nature; if you love greens and beaches.. Then this is another beautiful place to experience.

Swimming with whales would be awesome!! Witnessing those blow holes, too! Yes, and island hopping through kayaks would complete one’s thirst for adventure!

See?!? Now that’s what you call “fun”!!

Travel Time: Expat Life in Indonesia

Have you been to Indonesia? Bali, does it ring a bell? Well, it’s a very popular tourist destination, just a wonderful beach. How about working and living in Indonesia? Oh, whether working or visiting, if you are white or blonde..

You must then be a “bule”.. an Indonesian term basically referred to non-Southeast Asian looking people; and that could be good for you, let’s check out our hilarious travel time video for today..

Wow, pretty expensive, huh?! I mean, the goods. Then again, the video is actually relevant to Jakarta, Bali, and other Indonesian cities but not the whole of Indonesia..

The same goes with house rents which in cities you have to pay for the whole year, but outside cities, you do pay monthly rents. Hmm…

Yet come to think of these items, they are mostly expensive only in supermarkets and not in regular markets and local stands – that is if you just try to do a little searching. Quite obvious.

Lastly, what makes Indonesians pretty admirable is their high moral standards.. and their sense of cooperation. Like, the neighborhood cleanup they regularly organize.. and being a “bule” only means you got to fit in as well.

YouTube Review: Sadie. Little Brother. And Growing up.

While in the video, 5-year-old Sadie struggles with the reality of life.. Of growing old.. And of dying.

Yes.. Of not wanting her little brother to grow old but remain cute as she wants him to be..

Guess what, she actually ended up cute herself and rivaling that of her little 3-month old brother.

Hmm.. If only grown ups realizes how short life is.. yes, even at a hundred years old, then the world will be a better place with more concern for each other and cooperation as well.

Sadie doesn’t want her brother to grow old is probably one of the cutest YouTube videos we have seen.. and surely, it has merited almost 23 million views for that.

Ah, just what is it with children, huh? They just keep breaking our hearts..

10 Things That Could Wipe Out Life On Earth on YouTube Review

Remember Armageddon and films about the end of the world? Well, that’s our YouTube video for the week and it’s entitled 10 Things That Could Wipe Out Life On Earth by Alltimes 10.

Hmm… this is not just an interesting video but an informative one, as being part of this planet, we should be sensitive of where we live and do our share to preserve good earth that we have come to enjoy.

Yes, while there are some truth to the analysis, many factors are actually controllable if only we are more concerned.. such as the exploitation of resources and pollution. Of course, there are also those that are bit questionable like the “coating of the whole planet” of toxins on a cataclysmic eruption of Yellowstone’s super volcano. Hey, even the USGS and major scientists don’t see any such evidence in the near future.

Anyhow, just recently, there was this report of a Liberian infected with the deadly Ebola virus that was detected in Canada. Worry not though, as of course he’s now going through a process.

Okay now, if you’re not one of the almost 1.2M viewers who have already seen the video, just watch.. if you have, time to be good to earth.
